Session 5 & 6 Model

Today was the last day of painting this one. The model was so awesome and fun to paint! I just wish there was more time to finish it.

Space Tiger Warrior

Had a lot of fun drawing this. I used to draw a lot fantasy art when I was in high school and I haven't really drawn anything like that since. This is pretty close and really, why did I stop!? It's so fun to draw outrageous things! I'm thinking of making this into either a series of illustrations, a comic, or short animated web series (if I can find the time :/)

Tiny Portraits

As a homework assignment, I had to use different colors for the underpainting in three portraits. It's hard to paint small! These are 4x4.

Worked on this painting today. Awesome model! Really colorful and fun to paint. I can't wait to finish it next week.

Paintings

I've been taking a portrait painting class at SVA for a few weeks now. We work with the model for two sessions so when time is up, it's up! Both of these I tried to finish, though they're just not quite done. But I think I'm getting the hang of painting with bristle brushes and not blending as much (I do love to blend but it drives my professor nuts haha) Anyway, the first painting is the most recent one. The second one was from the first model session.

...and then there's this. Pinks and yellows are the colors I'm thinking with some red cardinals.

Watercolor on the train

Painted this on the way back from Niagara Falls during a long eleven hour train ride. Fall colors started showing up here and there, though still mostly green. Maybe on the way to bear mountain in a couple of weeks, it'll look a little more like the colors on top of this lady's head :)
