I've been taking a portrait painting class at SVA for a few weeks now. We work with the model for two sessions so when time is up, it's up! Both of these I tried to finish, though they're just not quite done. But I think I'm getting the hang of painting with bristle brushes and not blending as much (I do love to blend but it drives my professor nuts haha) Anyway, the first painting is the most recent one. The second one was from the first model session.

I almost forgot about this! the girl at the bottom is just a random sketch. She'll be in something else maybe.

...and then there's this. Pinks and yellows are the colors I'm thinking with some red cardinals.

Watercolor on the train

Painted this on the way back from Niagara Falls during a long eleven hour train ride. Fall colors started showing up here and there, though still mostly green. Maybe on the way to bear mountain in a couple of weeks, it'll look a little more like the colors on top of this lady's head :)

A couple of months ago I was asked to illustrate three panels for a short story called, "18", written by Christopher Pugh. It was a great story about war imagined by children, which you can read fully through instigatorzine's february/march issue, as well as see my other illustrations to this story. I had a lot of fun illustrating this and hope you enjoy it!

I've been in such an incredible drawing mood lately. Can't get enough of model sessions, though I'd like to see some men up there so I can practice them too. Pretty girl models are always nice but I've always struggled with my male drawings looking sort of girlish... probably because I draw girls all of the time. haha So yes, more male models please!

I went and did some gesture drawings at Society of Illustrators. It was great! They played live jazz music as the models posed. Anyway, I took the sketches and just colored them in on the computer. As you can see :)

Popping Bubbles for InstigatorZine
